❣ Pick a team, any team! Your character will wake up in that dorm, or they could find themselves wandering the castle.

REGULAR CHARACTERS OPTION 2
❣ They will wake up in a very plain, very empty room, containing only themselves, a door, and a whole bunch of almost-empty mirror frames. And maybe some other people! Maybe.

❣ A Mysterious Disembodied Voice—that will, if asked its name, call itself Echo—will give the standard information dump! Reapers destroyed your world; the Queen saved your soul; you are on teams and the teams have patrons; you can regain yourselves and save your world by playing games; please for the love of god don't pull those lone shards out of the mirrors seriously don't do that

❣ . . . if they go ahead and do that thing anyway, oops they vanish into nothingness until somebody slots the shard back in again.

❣ The door isn't locked, so they're free to get themselves out into the realm whenever they'd like!

REGULAR CHARACTERS OPTION 3
❣ They're just. Wandering the realm. Yep. Have... fun...? Maybe they'll encounter some of the wildlife! It's up to you.

[why wait inside when there's a whole new mysterious place to explore? This guy is wandering around, taking in everything excitedly. Y'know, as though he isn't an amnesiac or nothing.

Though if he does see someone, he will approach them to ask in a oddly raspy voice:]

Excuse me, but can you tell me where we are? And perhaps answer a few other questions?

[instead he's just. . . staring, his facial features scrunched up into what is probably a very unreadable expression]

[he waits a polite few moments, before both eyebrows go up and he waves a hand in front of Kaito's face]

[pulls his hand back and shakes it out, letting out a curse of his own. he has a good right hook, but ow that still hurt]

You're in a place called Kyriakos. You don't remember anything because your soul has been destroyed-- and with it, your memories.

For every game your team wins, you'll get a piece of your soul back. A piece of your past.

Anyway. Your whole world was destroyed, too. By a bunch of beings called the Reapers. You were brought to Kyriakos not only to rebuild yourself, but to rebuild your lost world, too.

Once your broken mirror's completed, your world will come back and you can go home. But like I said, your team's gotta win games to earn back memory shards.

Those games are run by creatures called Echoes. Some are jerks, and some are pretty nice. It all depends.

[PAUSES]

Alright . . . and how does one join one of these "games"? I'd like to get started on that as soon as possible.

When an Echo runs a game, you'll hear a set of bells toll throughout the realm. Head to the clocktower, and that'll get things started.

[his mouth twitches into a wry grin]

But you've gotta wait for the Echo to initiate things. You can't just run off and start winning memories back on your own, without them.
