game wide discussion
Jul. 6th, 2016 10:49 pmHello, Kyriakos!
This is our State of the Game/Gamewide Discussion post. It's been a little over two months since our last post and we have a lot to discuss, including the following:
- Our process behind the scenes
- The Nyssa plot
- The future of Kyriakos, after the Nyssa plot
- The Patron system
- Echo drops
- Trauma games
- Advertising
If there is another issue you'd like to discuss, feel free to make a header to discuss it and if you for any reason feel uncomfortable commenting on your own journal, feel free to comment under a sock account.
Above all, we urge you to keep the discourse in this post civil. We don't think we have to stress this too strongly since normally you guys are pretty good about this. Just keep in mind to be polite to your fellow players, even in the case of a disagreement.

event sign-ups
Jul. 4th, 2016 02:53 pmHello, Kyriakos!
This is a sign-up post for our next major plot event. First, a minor retraction from this week's announcements: we indicated that we'd be running a minor event sometime this week as sort of a prologue to this weekend's event, but scheduling the relevant parties on a short turnaround was proving prohibitively difficult, which led us to make a minor tweak in how we'll approach the event. So, the minor event we were planning has been canceled and replaced, but we will likely use the concept for it sometime in the near future.
So, with that out of the way, some of the information on our next event:
- The event will be a clocktower incursion and it will take place on Saturday, July 9th.
- The characters will be sneaking into the clocktower to look for Tama and his mirror, which were taken away on Day 236.
- This isn't concrete yet, but our runner is targeting a time early in the day and a duration of a few hours. For now, we're looking ataround noon EST 2 PM EST and around 3-5 hours. When this is more set, we will let you know.
- The event will start as a minor exploradora, exploring the clocktower to look for what was taken, culminating with a boss fight inside the tower. There will be a plot-related reward at the end of the boss fight.
- We will try to accommodate as many interested players as possible, but as we're looking for a shorter run mostly focused on a boss fight, we will not be able to accommodate as many people as the tile run. We will probably not be able to fit more than 10 players and that in itself is a somewhat optimistic estimate. Depending on how many sign-ups we get, we will RNG the participants that we wind up going with.
- As this run will be focused on a boss fight, combat and support-oriented characters will be most well-suited to it. Powers will be enabled during the run.
UPDATE: Princess got taken as well, under equally stealthy circumstances on Day 237. So, this event is going to be for recovering both Tama (as well as his mirror and the two tiles he was holding) and Princess. Along with this, a few more concrete details about the event are as follows:
- The event will start at 2 PM EST on Saturday and will have an expected run time of 3-5 hours. We very much would like to be done by 7 PM EST.
- We're about at capacity for sign-ups right now, but if you're interested in participating, still feel free to put one in. Those who aren't RNGed into the event will be given preference for future plot events with a limited amount of sign-ups.
- The plot reward for collecting all 8 tiles will be unlocked very soon after the event is finished.
Please include your character's name and team in your sign-up! If you have any questions, contact us at kyriakosmods@gmail.com!

test drive
Jul. 2nd, 2016 05:16 pmWhat a beautiful morning! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the bells are ringing—
Ah, yes. Bells!
As they ring you find yourself drawn outdoors, away from a handsome little cottage that you can't remember, to a clock-tower. And here, surrounded by strangers (all of them? Literally not a single familiar face amongst any of them? Is that normal?) someone passes you a piece of paper.

It would appear to be that you're being made to play a game! And you have a great, wide, world to play it in!
- Be careful as you go about trying to collect your items – weird holes in the ground, blood-thirsty bunnies, or even the occasional tricky echo wanting to handcuff you to some other stranger may make the process more difficult!
- Hmm. Is it just you, or does there seem to be something recurring about the clothing colors here? Maybe you can ask that other person. ... And find out where you are? (Who you are?)
- Oops. It seems you've gotten lost in a forest, and you're getting hungry! Perhaps you could take a bite from one of these berries? Or maybe that strange looking apple hanging overhead?
- You've somehow found yourself with a bingo card. Maybe something will happen if you fill it out by performing the actions on the squares?
- Hip-hip-hooray! It seems you and your team have won the game! And just what fabulous prize have you received? When you return to your cottage, you find some tiny glass shards. Just what are you supposed to do with these...?

plot moderator/event runner applications
Jul. 2nd, 2016 02:43 pmHello, Kyriakos!
This post is for plot moderator applications! We're looking for two plot mods to help us through the rest of the Nyssa plot and concoct, coordinate and execute future plots and plot mechanics in Kyriakos.
The duties that come with plot moderatorship would include:
- Working with the rest of the plot team and the mod team to create outlines for planned events, pre-write events from these outlines and run these events, in coordinaton with event runners.
- Regularly meeting and communicating with the head mods.
- Executing the plot beats and assisting to complete the timeline the mods have for the remainder of the Nyssa plot this Summer.
- Helping the head mods build and execute the plots of Kyriakos' future.
This position will include event running. As much as possible, it will not be solo event running, it will be done from pre-written event text, alongside a head mod, another plot mod, or an event runner.
If you are interested, please fill out this form:
We're also opening applications for event runners. As an event runner, your duties will center around running events from pre-written text made by the mod team and the plot team. As much as possible, you will be running an event alongside a member of the mod team or the plot team and will coordinate with them as you run the event. There will be some room for improvisation as players inevitably do unexpected things during events, as long as it doesn't deviate too much from the plot.
We would like to request that if any of our European members, or members who operate at hours when our European members are active are willing, we would greatly appreciate being able to have at least one runner who can run events at an optimal time for our European members, as being able to fit in our members closer to GMT without forcing them to stay up very late has been difficult in the past.
If you're interested, please fill out this form:
Comments will be screened! Applications will be open for one week, until July 9th.

announcements & placements
Jul. 2nd, 2016 01:40 amHello Kyriakos!
Major Announcements:
Reminders:
IC Round-up:
Upcoming Games/Events:
App Status:
Drops:
Placements:
◉ If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please email us at kyriakosmods@gmail.com!
Major Announcements:
- ◉ June's Activity Check is up.
◉ Sipp has stepped down from the plot team and from playing Nyssa. The mod team would like to thank her for everything she's done for the game playing Nyssa and helping both the current and last mod team coordinate the game's plot. She put in a lot of good work over the past year and Kyriakos as a whole is indebted to her for that. We wish her well going forward.
◉ The mod team will move forward with the plans that were already in place for the remainder of the Nyssa plot. We still intend to end the Nyssa plot this Summer. As of right now, our plan is to handle playing her in the rest of the plot internally. We do not plan to have open applications to play Nyssa, but if you are interested in playing her, please get in contact with the mods and we will discuss it with you.
◉ We're going to temporarily postpone the State of the Game post to Wednesday, July 6th. We're instead going to use this weekend to have several internal conversations among the mod and plot teams and begin advertising.
◉ We're planning to begin advertising this weekend and put up a new Test Drive Post ASAP. As of right now, we're intending to advertise on
◉ The mod team will be putting up applications for positions on the plot team this weekend. We will be looking for two plot mods and we will be taking event runner apps as well. If you are interested in helping the plot team with the climax of the Nyssa plot and the future of Kyriakos, keep an eye out for the application post.
◉ Our next major plot event is scheduled for Saturday, July 9th. We have a minor plot event scheduled before then to happen soon, hopefully early during the week. Participation in the minor event will be open, sign-ups for the major event will go up soon.
◉ Regarding the timeline, the results of the poll tilted overwhelmingly towards a straight timeskip, and that is what we will be going with. On Sunday, we will skip forward to Day 235 Night, placing The Feral's game at the start of Day 235 and continuing forward with Day 236 Morning on Monday. We're aware that several players felt we should place the upcoming events out of time and place them on the timeline later, but we feel this would lead to a lot of confusion and ambiguity in the event itself, and we've had bad experiences in the past placing key plot events out of time. We feel taking things more linearly is the best way to keep the timeline stable. We'll be putting up a post for backdated interactions on Sunday.
◉ For the remainder of the Nyssa plot, the mod team has decided to not accept any further trauma game claims, as we believe that with us ramping up towards the climax of the Nyssa plot very soon and with physical, emotional and mental trauma being very possible as we do so, additional trauma games will conflict with the plot and be too much stress on the playerbase and the characters. If you are looking to run a trauma game in the future, please do not hesitate to keep designing it, we have a lot of ideas about trauma games and how they'll function in Kyriakos post-Nyssa plot that we're hoping to start sharing sometime soon.
Reminders:
- ◉ People claiming events on the calendar: while we don't mind if you want to organize and use the calendar for team-related activities aside from games and mod-approved mini-events, please e-mail the mods first before putting it there!
◉ Game runners: Please make sure you update the win doc after a game!
◉ Our revamped Game info went up last week! Some information and pages to note are over here.
◉ Vanara is without a patron. If you are interested in patroning Vanara, please get in contact with them.
IC Round-up:
- ◉ The July 1st IC round-up is over here!

◉ Cats require 40 comments overall, with no on-team requirement..
◉ Patron Echoes require 20 comments, or a game, with no on-team requirement.
◉ Echo requirement is just a check-in confirming you're still around with them.

Noriko is claiming a game on the weekend of July 29-31.
This will be a steampunk exploradora text adventure through a floating Venice. There is no planned trauma, in fact, it's supposed to be fluffy. However, nothing is completely safe around Noriko.
More details will be forthcoming, as well as time. It will likely be a 4+ hour block on one of those days. If there is enough interest, I will do two runs and combine them for endgame.
Please sign up if you are interested, and let me know what the best time for you (Fri. evening, Sat. afternoon, Sat. evening, Sun. afternoon)! All times/dates are in CST for now.
Hopefully this will be fun!

plot/time progression post
Jun. 29th, 2016 04:17 pmHello, Kyriakos!
We have a discussion and a poll for you today regarding our passage of time for the next stretch of time and our next plot event. First off, we want to announce that our next major event for the Nyssa plot is going to take place the weekend of July 8th. We have one more essential, but minor event to get to before that that, which we have yet to schedule, but we're hoping to do sometime next week. The issue that we've found, however, is that the recent trauma game has hit our cast somewhat harder than we anticipated. The game's tone and atmosphere is an important concern of the plot team and we expect the next minor and major events to be somewhat hard on the game -- not as bad as a trauma game or Henwen getting blown to bits, but still decently hard and around what we've come to expect from Nyssa and her cohorts.
We want to make it clear, we plan to stick in moments of good fortune, hope and accomplishment for the cast throughout the rest of the Nyssaplot to stop the atmosphere from getting too oppressive, but we're nonetheless a little concerned right now that if we go straight into our next events, moving right from being hurt badly by Yaksinis to being once again attacked and set back by Nyssa, it may be too hard on the cast, especially with a lot of people still doing healquests. We also want people to be able to play out their fallout and healquests as they want without just going right past that to rush to the next event, because we understand that that's important to people and their character's development to be able to play out.
So, this is where the discussion of passage of time comes in. We want to make this clear, to stick to our schedule and reach our timeline for the conclusion of the Nyssaplot, our next major event has to take place on the weekend of July 8th. We'll talk more about our schedule and deadline this weekend on the state of the game post and after this event on the weekend of the 8th, we'll be able to start being a lot more open about some exact particulars of our schedule. So, having said all that, here are what we believe to be our options to, if need be, give the game some space from Yaksinis' trauma game and lead into our next event.
1. Just continue on with our current IC:OOC day ratio. Our cast deals with what happens as it happens.
2. Outright timeskip and backdating. For example, we skip from Day 230 up ahead to Day 235, Day 237, Day 240, something like that, purely for example. In this case, we would put a post up on the comm with all the skipped days, for players to backdate things as they need to, looking something like this.
3. Speed up the IC-OOC day ratio, making it 1:1 for a while. For a set amount of days, IC time and OOC time would advance basically at the same ratio to make fallout go a bit faster. When we sped up and when we slowed back down to normal time isn't locked in yet, but would probably start pretty soon after this poll closes and end later next week.
These are the options we're looking at, please take a minute to think about it and vote. We'll have this poll open until announcements go up on Friday night, at which point, we'll announce the results of the poll and what plan we'll be going with, so, please make sure you vote by some time Friday afternoon or evening at the latest. We will make daily reminders on plurk to make sure this post is as visible as possible.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to use this post or contact as at kyriakosmods@gmail.com.

Next state of the game post.
Jun. 27th, 2016 11:48 pmHello, Kyriakos!
We'd like to have the next State of the Game/Mod Address post soon! We were initially thinking of this weekend, on July 2nd, but as that's 4th of July weekend, we realize some people may be unable to make it to the initial post. While there's nothing wrong with this and we prefer the discussion to stay active for a while, we still want to get the player's opinions on this. If a lot of people aren't going to be available on the 2nd, we were also considering July 6th.
Let us know what date works best for you and we'll try to have a solid date in mind for the post sometime this week!

Game Info!
Jun. 26th, 2016 08:32 pmHello Kyriakos! As promised, the new game info is now LIVE!
For easy navigation to all pages, please check out our new navigation page, an all-access page for every part of the game. The main navigation at the top covers general game information that will be useful to new and prospective players, while the full navigation is there if a player ever needs quick access to any page.
Pages to note:
- Our new team information page, with dorm and uniform information as well as other useful team-related things. Like we mentioned in our last post, if your team would like to submit a link to your inventory, comment there! For now, the links are for the most part, inactive.
- Our new echo and patron list page combines the hiatus and borrow/corunning permissions. Please use it to update your own accordingly if you'd like to add or remove any section!
- Cats have a single page now for their information.
-We have a games and game running page that serves as both a guide and a glossary for different types of games.
- The userinfo for the communities has been updated, as have the sidebar links.
- The FAQ is cleared out, as things answered in it were added to appropriate sections.
Other pages have been tweaked and switched around, some added, some removed and merged with others including all applications (teams, Cats, Echoes) being on one single page. Please take the time to look through everything!
And finally, if there are any broken links, typos, wrong links, contradictory or otherwise confusing things as you browse, please use our housekeeping post to report it, not e-mail or Plurk. Thank you very much!

Jun. 25th, 2016 04:16 pmHello Kyriakos!
We have a few things we'd like to bring to your attention before we work on updating the game info tomorrow Echo/patron and Cat players, two of these apply to you! And teams, we'll need something from you as well.
Echo/patron players! In a motion to try to streamline things and make access easier for things like game running, hiatuses and other things, we're going to make the Echo/patron page all access to everything, so a person only needs to make a single stop to a single page for all information about contact/borrowing/corunning/hiatuses/drops/etc., instead of having various pages and docs for them as some of them are very outdated as it is. Here is an example for what to expect! The list will reflect everything we can find from current players from all existing documents and pages - so when it goes live, we'd like everyone to look it over and comment to the post to make any appropriate changes to things! We've added a separate drop description as well if they happen to differ from the hiatus activities. We've also added a section for easy finding for your Echo's contact post!
Cat players! We're also looking to streamline the memory request post and make it simpler and easier both for players and mods/housekeepers. As Cats keep track of their own registries much like the rest of the game, there's no real need for a list of their regained memories as they can link threads and mark things off themselves. Many Cats don't make use of the post as it is and just tend to things themselves with choosing their own out of game memories or asking for a random choice on Plurk. We're looking to make it a simple request post, somewhat similar to the quest requesting post where any player is free to track things and offer a memory if one goes up if a mod or helper isn't around to get back to it quickly. We wanted to bring this up in the event any Cats want to go gather links from the post there now if they haven't already linked things off on their own registry and write up pages.
Teams players (including Cats too)! The new team page that we have ready is going to serve as an all access page, meaning dorm and uniform descriptions as well as HTML color code information, IRC channels, Plurk emotes and so on. One of the things we'd like to link for each team are those inventory docs that went around some time ago - that seem to come and go in terms of getting lost with apps and drops in terms of keeping updated since they're not linked anywhere specific. This example is the doc we're talking about! They were just for keeping track of what character has what, what they have in their rooms, pets, chores, things like that. If this is a good idea, please find those docs and contact your teams to get them updated and comment to this post with them so we can have them prepared tomorrow!
Thanks a lot guys. If you have any questions or concerns, like always please e-mail us at kyriakosmods@gmail.com!

Jun. 24th, 2016 11:17 pmClaiming July 22nd to July 24th for an Albinia's first game.
And it's fusion game!
There will be an allowance of two fusions over the duration of the game. People DO NOT have to fuse twice, but I like giving options, and it also allows for people to have an Unstable and Stable fusion if they want.
As for how it works, I would recommend a burner journal to share with your partner. There is two ways to handle the playing. One is you alternate your tags. Like you tag - other person tags - your partner tags - other person tags again and so on. You can also just have a very good idea of what your fusion is like and you two can play solo at different times. Any inconsistencies can be blamed upon being a new person finding their feet. You can also mix up the two methods!
I would also recommend you both have a means of communication where you can post links to where the fusion has tagged out, be it a plurk, or something on the journal itself.
Also a helpful wiki link
And why yes, there will be a dance. For Character Reasons and because dancing. People may not be informed that dancing together will cause a fusion or if there will be a fusion at all until the dances have happened.
There will be a survey turn in at the end.

◉ If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please email us at kyriakosmods@gmail.com!
- ◉ Firstly, the game information has been completely revamped and is ready to go live this weekend. We'll give you an additional heads up on Plurk when the actual changes will be happening, as links and other things may temporarily disappear, be switched around, etc.! We anticipate the change to take about one evening to get set up properly, so it won't be too long! We want to thank you for your patience with this as we've been working on things on the side along with everything else that has come to us. And we're really excited to share everything with you and hope it's to your liking as well!
◉ When the new information is ready to go, we expect to start advertising for the purposes of recruiting new players soon after! If you know of any places that are good for advertising, let us know!
◉ Recently, the mod team altered the rules of the echo cap. You can now play a maximum of three non-patron echoes and Patron echoes count as distinct from non-patron echoes for the purposes of the cap.
◉ The plot team will be looking for additional help to work on the Nyssa plot soon, either in the form of event runners, an additional plot mod or both. We will clarify exactly what we're looking for and have sign-ups posted soon.
◉ The mod team would like to put together the game's next gamewide discussion/state of the game post next week on July 2nd. We're aware that placing the event of 4th of July weekend may make it difficult to participate in, so we'd like to hear people's opinions and if they won't be able to make it that weekend so that the mod team can move it forward either forward or backwards. Whenever the post does go up, the mod team hopes to, as well as facilitating discussion of the game, address several subjects about the work they've been doing behind the scenes and issues facing the game.
◉ The plot team expects the Nyssa plot to be concluded this summer. We do not have an official date yet, but we are hoping to have one we can share by the state of the game post.
Reminders:
- ◉ People claiming events on the calendar: while we don't mind if you want to organize and use the calendar for team-related activities aside from games and mod-approved mini-events, please e-mail the mods first before putting it there!

game claim
Jun. 22nd, 2016 10:25 amSnagging July 1st to 3rd-ish for a social bingo game! Because immediately after trauma what you really need is a chance to unwind and do banal mingle tasks, right? Right.
BE THERE OR BE SQUARE
BE THERE OR BE SQUARE
A couple of game claims!
Jun. 22nd, 2016 11:39 amTaking July 15th-17th for an Isabel game! 15th through 16th will be a mingle-event, with the actual game taking place around noonish EST on the 17th. The premise will be a variant on "canon for a day," in so far as amnesiacs can be considered canon. It will not exclude new characters.
And then I'm claiming August 26th until August 29th for a good ol' GM trauma game. You're welcome, Kyr.
