Announcements + Placements!

Hello Kyriakos!

◉ Delriza has a minigame on the 10th, and Yaksinis are running a game on the 15th!

◉ Drops and placements!

Christmas, Mikiya Kokutou, Nanami Chiaki, Hermione Granger, and Marcell Csorba have been dropped!

Kenta (OC) will be joining Amalthea!
Isabela (Dragon Age II) will be heading to Tiamat!
Adelina (The Two Princesses of Bamarre) will be on Dawon!

We would also like to welcome Akasha and La Torre as Echoes!

Our queue has been updated!

◉ As a reminder, while character applications are still closed, Echo apps are still open!

◉ Cats sometime this week! GET HYPE.

◉ We want to hear your opinions on game scheduling! We’re considering changing our current game claiming rule so that more game claims can happen - especially midweek games, since we know those ended up not happening as often due to the rule. Would you like to see a change to the current rule as it stands now? Let us know! We’re adjusting things as we go to improve the game, so your feedback on how things are working out is important to us.

◉ As always, if you ever have any concerns about the game, questions, or any suggestions, please email us at kyriakosmods at gmail dot com. We’re here to help you, so don’t be afraid to email us for anything!

Personally I would like two days between games. This allows for more games during the week, but it also allows for some space between games! With a lot of new people and a lot of new teams, it means that we get more games at varying times for a way for new people to get memories faster....!

I REALLY LIKE RUNNING MID-WEEK GAMES and I can't really do that with the system we have on short notice, since people take weekends almost every week.

ALSO HELLO ADELINA WELCOME TO TIGERSSSSSSSS

For the game scheduling, I do like the gap, but I also like the idea of shortening it down to two days between games, which means we can have up to three a week, depending on when the first game of the week starts. It can allow people to hold their games sooner and/or let us jump in a game quicker if we've missed one earlier due to being busy. Or it can be one game during the weekend and a max of two/three during the weekdays, no matter what the gap is between them (like, a game on Fri and one on Sat), if we want to go for that route. Can be hectic but it does at least guarantee that there will be a game on the weekend, since some people can only make games during them at times, and then games on the weekdays for those who can only make it during the weekdays.

But also, hello to the new characters!! \o

[personal profile] saburai 2014-03-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I would personally be in favor of lowering the requirement between games to only 1 day, if only because it would make it possible to have games on Sun when there's a Fri game (and on Sat if a Mon game). That might make it a little too commonly icly for games, though, so maybe it could be 1-day when involving weekends, since they're only two days long themselves and are easily skipped, and then 2-days between for weekday games?

That's my take on that, anyway. And welcome, new people!

[personal profile] inthenude 2014-03-10 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of like the idea of a two day rule, but for high trauma games maybe make it three days before the next game? Just so everyone has time to thread out a substantial amount of the fallout.

[personal profile] grandstanding 2014-03-10 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm okay with any span between games, with the caveat that I don't really like the idea of having more than two games per week. Playing catchup and doing posts on other topics would get harder if there were 3+ games in a week, I feel.

Hello game, and hello Tiamat! I am here from that canon where everyone hates dragons to be the most inappropriate dragon possible.

This should be great fun!

My suggestion is instead of using a 'day' rule, we go by a numbers rule- One game during the weekdays, and one game during the weekend. So one game any time between Monday-Friday (EST), and one game on Saturday-Sunday (EST)

It allows people to schedule when they want without becoming overwhelming for the people playing, or having to fiddle around with 'what do 24 hour games count as/how many days was it since the last game etc.' As long as everyone uses common sense and doesn't like, stick a monday game straight after a sunday trauma where everyone's a corpse, it should work?

[personal profile] takewing 2014-03-10 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
I AGREE WITH THIS 90% except I'd classify the weekend as Fri-Sunday. :|a Since a good majority of the games, especially heavy-hitting ones, fall on either Friday or Saturday as it is.
toomuchyakking: (L'estate)

[personal profile] toomuchyakking 2014-03-10 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, that's a good point! If you do Monday-Thursday and Fri-Sun, then it'll 100% make sure there's a game in the currently dead mid-week time period. The rest is just making sure there's a cohesive timezone (EST or PST or whatever) for us to make sure we're all on the same week. Since obviously as an Australian, I'm a day ahead.
takewing: coloring by brush (Just kidding!)

[personal profile] takewing 2014-03-10 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Standardizing the timezone we use to claim games is an excellent idea. Clarifying whether the announced times are for mingle-start or game-start would be great, too; I've noticed that seems to vary from runner to runner.
remarch: (If you had one chance?)

[personal profile] remarch 2014-03-10 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
oh god yes, i never know if i need to show up an hour in advance to sign up, or whether the game starts at that time!
grandstanding: (w - :D)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2014-03-10 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Seconded! Since Friday games count as Saturday/weekend games for those of us in the Asia-Pacific area, as well. Fri-Sun covers the whole timezone spectrum of weekend.

I like this idea.

It also might be a good idea to establish some guidelines for how far ahead games can be claimed, since right now it's getting to be kind of a mess (and I'm as guilty of that as anyone).

[personal profile] deathbot 2014-03-10 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconding this idea she says, like she wasn't actually considering pre-claiming a July game Because I feel a lot of new echoes get blocked out of running for weeks if not months because the schedule is all booked out a month in advance.

March and April are entirely booked out, and May is half booked out- An echo apping now can't run their games for two months or more!

I would like to argue for keeping weekends Sat-Sun! Friday is most definitely a weekday.
secretbooty: (Ivy9)

[personal profile] secretbooty 2014-03-10 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It is for the US and Canada, but we have also a lot of Moontimers over in Australia and Asia and Europeans in the game as well which is why I think it's getting mentioned that way. :|a

No matter what though, this is definitely a bunch to consider so hopefully we figure out something that works for as many people as possible.

[personal profile] inbeta 2014-03-10 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess the issue for me is that I'm lucky if I'm able to make 2 games a month, since at least half of the weekends in a given month are rendered unplayable/unavailable due to Friday games! So altering the suggestions so that it's one Mon-Thurs, one Fri-Sun at best will still leave me missing out on most things.

It's a personal thing, but all of these are.
deathbot: (ARPK: mofumofumofu)

[personal profile] deathbot 2014-03-10 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
My logic in supporting the Fri-Sunday weekend is that out of the past three months, the proportions look roughly like this:

Friday: 6
Saturday: 3
Monday: 3
Tuesday: 2
Wednesday: 1
Thursday: 1
Sunday: 1

And both Yaksinis and Wilder's trauma games fell on a Friday. So leaving Fridays as part of the weekday likely wouldn't lead to an increase in weekday games or an improved spread of weekday games, as Friday games actually have an overall majority.
deathbot: (ARPK: I paca you paca)

[personal profile] deathbot 2014-03-10 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And also because Australian BUT NUMBERS TOO.

Plus I think if we do it this way, we'll encourage more two-three day games/take home games, which will help attendance, because people won't be limited by the surrounding bookings when they attempt to make a game claim; If there's a game on Saturday and you want to run a 48 hour game in the midweek under the current system, it's impossible.

Under the two a week rule, the length of the game makes no difference.
takewing: (Idiot . . .)

[personal profile] takewing 2014-03-10 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Echoing my reply to Rikki . . . ! My vote is to allow one game on a weekend (fri-sun) and one game on a weekday (mon-thurs). That keeps the calendar from getting too hectic, and means that everybody should (fingers crossed!) be able to make at least one game per week.

An additional suggestion I have is to keep an eye on when trauma games fall! A good 85% of them (percentage made up BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) are run between Friday and Sunday and in afternoons or evenings PST. :( It would be really really really great if we could encourage more people to run high impact games, trauma or otherwise, in alternative slots and/or at different times.
