Otacon's name is his codename from in game ("It means Otaku Convention."), but his amnesia name of "Professor" came b/c the smart characters in anime are always HAKASE (someone with a doctorate/prof/doctor) so he decided he was the old smart nerd and took that name. It worked out since later he found out he had a Ph.D.

JACK PANTHER comes from Jack being short for "jack off", "jackass" and "jack of all trades." Panther because Cat-related name scheme, but he wanted to be a tiger. :c

2. Otacon is bi, vastly female leaning; he likes clean-shaved, "pretty" dudes mostly. Meaning "Snake" here is not really his... thing... because beards are gross.

JACK PANTHER is dudebro levels of hetero but he's kind of bicurious, really. Sometimes. It shines through in subtle ways. Like when Reiner picked him up one time.

1. Lucciola's starter memory was the rules to and how to play a certain type of guild chess! He and Dio picked each other's names based on chess. '-' Rook as in the game piece, and Castling as in the move to protect the King. It's actually symbolic in canon in the same way, Lucciola making a move to protect the King, Dio. (That episode is named Castling, ftr. IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE THAT I'm too lazy to look up the exact details. EDIT: Look at Rook's comment she explains it beautifully :'D)

For Schooler:
1. Eveningstar picked it and well, this is why Epona doesn't have names that match whatsoever. It was after a long fight over what she'd be called and Schooler was the best one :')

2. She thinks she's into guys, but #canonerogeheroine implies she's bisexual and she is sooooort of thinking of another lady here u_u Sort of. It's complicated.

For Badass:
1. Roxy did it. :] It was a lot easier to 'remember' than the gang-associated ones she came up with. She's also been given other names before like Lady and Onyx from those who are too much of a prude to call her Badass :P

2. N....one??? She agreed to a relationship with Mikiya because they clearly had one before, but she has so much trouble connecting with people :')

1) Edea's amnesia name is King Arthur. It was supposed to be Leopard and Cats was supposed to be named after Cats, but Aoko is a ho! She changed it herself to King Arthur since she was a knight anyway... MAY AS WELL HAVE A KNIGHTLY NAME! #logic

2) Her past relationships were basically just her using people so she can feed on life energy, and she didn't care who or what she was with, ha ha. She's swing whatever way as long as she got something out of it.

1. Shoryu actually knows his name! Unlike most kirin he has one; it's Rokuta. He chose Shoryu at first because it was the name of a person who made him a promise in his first memory and he was afraid he'd forget the name if he didn't give himself cause to remember it. With his second memory he got both his own name and the full name of promise guy back. The guy made a huge deal about having to carry on his clan name now that the rest of his clan is dead. Since this guy is now (presumably) dead as well, Shoryu decided to carry on the name Komatsu Shoryu for him since it was important. Which would sadly probably just make the real Shoryu laugh, but Rokuta doesn't remember how at odds they always were yet or he'd know better.

2. He's a unicorn and babies come from trees in his world :( and he exists only to pick a person to be an advisor/slave to. He could probably like someone of any gender/species just to be contrary cause no biology is going to tell him if he can or can't want to have makeouts!! But outside of that pretty asexual over here curse you biology.

1. Yeah we OOCly went with Rook and Castling as a theme because we're terrible people. The two episodes in canon are "Rook Dio" and "Castling Lucciola" which are chess moves/pieces. So we went with Lucciola remembering general stuff about chess to make it happen. It's also a sort of "naming" thing as well because Dio gave Lucciola his name in canon, so in Kyr Rook's name is now ~special~ since he remembered that and it was full of Feelings™.

But the episode names in canon compliment each other in that Dio is originally a rook piece which is able to switch with a king in the castling move. And in canon Dio himself sort of gets elevated to the role of king. So then Lucciola himself also being a rook makes that possible because the castling move is the rook switching places with the king in order to protect it, which is what he does in the episode. Also the episode Castling Lucciola is the worst episode ever and it pulls my still-beating heart out of my chest and feasts on it so we're awful for these names. But I also really love them.

2. Rook/Dio is homosexual. \o/ He spends the series feeling up/draping off of Lucciola and stalking a cute dumb pilot boy and doing the same to him. All of the cute flying boys are his. ♥

1. Kaito gave her the name "Clover" after Yuffie tried to name her "Sieve". Probably 'cuz it's a lucky thing.

2. Clover dun curr, ie: she's bi, male leaning, and only because she'll (eventually) remember sleeping with more men than women.

1. sparrow's name comes from SUPER SENTAI TEAM TAKSHAKA, aka they decided they were superheroes immediately after waking up and gave themselves matching names! every member of takshaka gets named after a colour and a bird and it's a cute as hell theme.

2. there is literally no canon hint to any sexuality because lol pokemon but i play her as bi with no strong leaning toward any gender.

kanra is also bi but has next to no interest in sex (which is for the best because you really don't want to know how snakepeople have sex you just don't)

1. Raven named Eveningstar! She's actually the only one in Epona not to get named by a team member, since Star named everyone but didn't get named until after she'd met other people. She also doesn't deserve such a beautiful name.

2. Burgersexual. Star doesn't really have interest in dating, but if she ever does develop an interest, I think it'd depend more on the person than the gender. I'd say she's more straight with a potential to be bi, since she gets little teenage girl crushes on guys in canon but also says stuff like "EVEN I WANT TO PROFESS MY LOVE TO HER" about a girl.

1. Arim named Tora! The theme is FANCY NAMES ARIM PICKED. That's it. It's a cute tiger name.

2. NONE. She was really obsessively devoted to Ion in canon, but I don't think that's a romantic thing, per say. It's more like a master/animal kind of thing. She's not emotionally mature or normal enough to really think about dating.

1. Every Barghest gets named by their patrons, after stars! Lluan named her Lupus because she's a wolf and there was already a Sirius and Canis when she joined.

2. Lupus is asexual so far as like, actual physical attraction and drive goes. Both times she's had sex (once here and once in her canon), it was just because someone said it'd make them happy. She's pretty heavily ''''romantic'''', though, and it doesn't really matter with who, though she views love kind of terribly and brokenly so

1. LADY RUBY TABBY was originally named Ruby, when she woke up with the rest of Ratatoskr 2.0. Roxy named her because her relic pendant was a red gem, which started them just naming everyone after whatever they were wearing. As a Cat, Arthur named her Tabby but then got mad that Aoko didn't follow the theme and abandoned it, but Tabby wanted to keep it so she went ahead with 'Lady Tabby'. Then she left the dorm and was assaulted by Rats calling her Ruby so she started calling herself 'Lady Ruby Tabby' so they'd be less sad.

1. Silver Crane came from Takshaka's bird name theme! Crane was a bird she suggested and picked after input from a few others, since I thought it was a bird that fit her pretty well, and it also works with what cranes mean in Japanese culture.

Phi basically picked her own name of Io since she's an independent little stinker, but Alectryon's theme is ~meaningful names~ so it works out. Basically, she wanted a name to do with Jupiter since her life's motto is about him, and Io was the Galilean moon name she liked best. Also held to the grand Alectryon tradition of going around without a name for a while.

2. Crane is pretty much heteroromantic asexual. She's not attracted to anyone on a physical level here, but in the right situations she could develop a romantic crush. Canonically she's pretty strongly young-master-sexual, but she doesn't have that back yet, so there's theoretically the possibility of her falling for someone else.

Phi is a mystery and wants to keep it that way.

Game Freak is aroace but she's also as mature as a five year old so why would you ever.

1. Green Wren is the name that Tavros has! He picked it because Swan suggested it and said that the Wren had a cool legend (it didn't seem cool but then IT SUDDENLY DID SOMETHING THAT WAS, and Wrens are the kings of birds). Green is just kind of a color he liked. :|a

Ivy is the name Jasmine has because her team has a plant theme! She thought it suited her because ivy isn't very flowery.

1. Hydra comes from Hydrangea, which is the name she picked out from the list of flower names Kanra provided when Dawon first came into being. It's part of a flower theme!! Everyone on Dawon has a silly flower name.

3. Hydra is bisexual with a strong female preference. Her canon love interest is a girl and uh she has like a thousand crushes on various girls in Kyriakos. GAY THOUGHTS CENTRAL. But being attracted to a guy is well within the realm of possibility if their personalities mesh (lol Technic) without other mitigating factors like oh no platonic besties (Ed) or oh no mentor figure (Swan).

1. AOKO WAS A HO and decided that she wanted to hold onto something from home instead of following along with the Cat theme of naming themselves after cats! She thought that naming herself after her job would be pretty dumb (dumber than choosing a random word for her name, even), and it's for a similar reason that she decided to forgo the idea of bestowing a title upon herself. She didn't want to give herself airs.

She chose the name Feather from the kanji 黒羽快斗 (Kuroba Kaito). SHE . . . SHE WILL NEVER TELL KAITO AND SHE HOPES HE NEVER FIGURES IT OUT.

2. She's pretty solidly heterosexual! She can appreciate female beauty and frequently exclaims over how beautiful or cute ladies are! But it's aesthetic appreciation, not sexual, and it would take a lot of development for Aoko to consider a relationship with another lady. Which is to say, S-SORRY FOR YOUR FEELINGS, BELT.

1. Takshaka Sentai Bird Rangers naming theme go! She took the name Blue Raven because she has SUPER BLUE EYES and raven black hair. She has since swapped back to the name Bluebird, which hilariously still fits the theme and isn't much of a change at all.

He uses it way more than his real name for now, since he doesn't want to become a walking "lol a guy named guy" joke just yet.

2) 75/25; bicurious but predominantly heterosexual, because ladies are wonderful and they get him all hot and bothered. 2. For Belt sexuality is weird since she never quite decoupled it from the pain she's used to having when she touches others. She's attracted to people she trusts based upon the amount of trusth she feels for them, how much she respects them, and how much of a drive she has to protect/aid them. However, she's kind of absurdly unlikely to ever want to do anything beyond hugging and possibly spooning of her own accord.

Vetoed is incredibly straight and his love life is a travesty because he seems to have a thing for 'Cute girls who have/are willing to try to kill me.' No, seriously. Also tsunderes for some reason.

Rotten is into everything but she still has trouble seeing herself as an actual part of a ship ever.

1. Swoop got his name from Lupus' suggestion of Swoopy Hair! Mostly he chose Swoop for lack of ideas of his own, and the alternatives were like, Curry or Almond. He decided he wasn't going to be named after food.

2. Swoop is almost as straight as an arrow! In canon he's had some moments of bicuriosity, but they never went anywhere because he's a shy loser and would also go into vehement self-denial whenever he noticed them. Then he got a girlfriend who he pretty much stays with for the rest of her life, so. In Kyr he didn't even get a chance to consider bicuriosity because he remembered his dokis for his girlfriend like within his first five IC days here. He is a dumb romantic and super monogamous, so his heart is pretty much set on her even though she's not here.

1. DARK NAMED HIMSELF MIRA. because it does go along with Barghest's star theme and he is picky as shit when it comes to what he's called! He went by Mirror for a bit since his first memory was Daisuke and him in front of one and Daisuke panicking over seeing Dark in it, but.

Arim is....Arim. Closest thing he has to sexual/romantic interest is Satoshi, who is his host, and Dark and really he is abusive stalker headmonster dude. In practice of kyr, he's currently aesexual, though he could develop into a demisexual since if he cared THAT much for someone, he would probably want to be close to them as possible. But currently he's still kind of freaked out on a deep level by kissing, s-so that is a long off possibility.

1. Kaito got the name 'Lucky' from Trick! Who remembered him and remembered that his name was Lucky :V And at the time he didn't remember anything, so he latched onto Trick's whole "HEY I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, SUP LUCKY" thing and took the name on himself. In JT, he took the name Lucky cuz he thought it sounded cool and he thought he had lots of luck (and then he quickly realized how ironic the name was because he was the least lucky person ever).

Mitsuru took "Ellie" from "Elegance," which was a suggestion from Aoko. She wanted a name that sounded like a name, and while Ellie is not quite as ~grand~ as she'd like, it suits her needs.

2. KAITO IS PRETTY HETEROSEXUAL. Ladies are cute. He likes flirting with ladies. ;D He appreciates the ladies. He absolutely sucks at romancing the ladies.

Mitsuru is heteroseuxaliiiiish but could totally be in a relationship with a woman if it happened. It would all depend on who hit her romansu pings.

Okay it's actually a little more complicated than that because in her world everyone is born female and chooses a permanent sex once they become an adult. Until then Floe is effectively pansexual genderfluid/nonbinary and even after she chooses to become male it's very hard for me to believe that changes much at all.

EDIT Oh right also Knut is bisexual with pref towards ~the ladies~ and the Cycle is/are both respectively straight. Have fun figuring that one out.
